Autism Awareness Virtual Conference 4:00 PM – 6:00 PM

Atlantic General Hospital will be hosting their 4th Annual Autism Awareness Conference via video call (Zoom). This event is free to the community. Katie Busacca, licensed and registered dietitian at Atlantic General and the Regional Cancer Care Center will be discussing “Autism and Nutrition Research: Fact or Fiction.” Maureen van Stone, Esq., director of the Maryland Center for Developmental Disabilities (MCDD) at Kennedy Krieger Institute, will discuss “Special Education Law and the COVID-19 Pandemic.” Dr. Deepa Menon, assistant medical director at the Center for Autism and Related Disorders (CARD) at Kennedy Krieger Institute, will discuss “Behavioral and Medical Challenges in Children with Special Healthcare Needs during COVID-19.” Advance registration is required. Atlantic General Hospital’s Sleep Disorders Diagnostic Center hosts a mask fitting clinic for patients who are having trouble adjusting to their CPAP equipment. NEW! Building Better Caregivers - Free 6-week workshop
Valuable training for caregivers experiencing behavior issues by their care partner or they are experiencing high levels of stress - caregivers of those with Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI), Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), dementia such as Alzheimer’s, and any other conditions that affect memory. Classes are highly participatory, where mutual support and success build the participants’ confidence in their ability to manage their caregiving tasks and maintain a fulfilling life.

Living Healthy with Hypertension
For people with high blood pressure who want to learn how to better manage the condition. This is a free 1-time 2 ½ hour workshop.

Living Well Chronic Pain Self-Management Workshop

Learn how to deal with the symptoms and challenges of living with a chronic condition to help you live a better life. This free 6 week interactive workshop will help you manage things like fatigue, frustrations, medication management and depression that often accompany living with a chronic condition.

Living Well with Diabetes Workshop
Free 6 week workshop to learn how to deal with the symptoms of diabetes such as fatigue, pain, high and low blood sugar, stress and emotional issues such as depression, anger, fear and frustration.

Stepping on Falls Prevention Workshop
This is a free 7-week interactive program proven to improve the participant’s risk of falls. It includes balance and strength exercises as well as strategies to reduce fall risks in the home and when out in the community.
