Youth Mental Health first Aid

Youth Mental Health First Aid is the initial help given to a person showing symptoms of mental illness or ina a mental health crisis such as:

  • severe depression
  • psychosis
  • suicidal thoughts and behaviors
  • panic attacks

until appropriate professional help or peer/family support can be engaged. The 8-hour course prepares memebers of the public to provide Mental Health First Aid to a youth or adolescent in need. This intervention can reduce the damaging effects of emotional disorders such as school dropouts, relationship issues and drug and alcohol problems.
