Atlantic General Hospital CEO Earns New Certification in Executive Management

Michael Franklin, president and CEO of Atlantic General Hospital, has earned the new credential of FACHE as a Fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives, an international professional society representing close to 30,000 healthcare executives.

With comprehensive programs in credentialing, education, career development, publications, research, and public policy, the American College of Healthcare Executives works toward its goal of improving the health status of society by advancing healthcare leadership and management excellence.

To earn board certification, candidates must demonstrate their commitment to continuing education, progression in professional experience, and participation in voluntary healthcare and community affairs. They must also successfully complete comprehensive written examinations covering subjects related to healthcare management.

This new credential involves a more rigorous evaluation of candidates and increased requirements in post baccalaureate degree status, continuing education and healthcare management experience.
Franklin, who has twenty years of healthcare management experience, holds a Bachelor of Science in Health Sciences from Old Dominion University in Norfolk, Virginia, and a Master of Science in Healthcare Administration from Virginia Commonwealth University-Medical College of Virginia.
