The Skinny on Local Hospital Associates' Wellness Activities: A Weight Watchers Success Story

When Atlantic General Hospital’s Associates Getting Healthy wellness program introduced Weight Watchers to its associates as a possible weight loss tool, the response was enthusiastic.

More than 40 associates signed up for the Weight Watchers At Work program, paying through payroll deductions to participate in the weight loss plan that helps individuals lose weight through a pre-determined point system that assigns values to the foods we eat.

The group members meet once a week to weigh in and offer support and encouragement to each other. Just halfway through the seventeen-week program, the associates have lost a combined 507 pounds and will be submitting their story of success to Weight Watchers International.

“The associates have been waiting for something like this,” said Ronna Lynch, RN, who serves as the AGH employee health nurse and also coordinates the Associates Getting Healthy employee wellness program. Lynch was responsible for bringing the Weight Watchers At Work program to the hospital.

“Having a supportive network of people is incredibly helpful when trying to lose weight. I’m really proud of everyone who is participating in this program.”
