Women’s Health Services at Atlantic General Hospital
The Eunice Q. Sorin Women’s Diagnostic Center at Atlantic General
Hospital was designed based upon the feedback of a year-long study conducted
by a task force of 12 AGH medical staff and clinicians. The result? A
convenient source for the health services most frequently needed by women,
including digital mammography, breast MRI, and bone density exams, as
well as minimally-invasive breast biopsy options.
Our Women’s Diagnostic Center was opened in October of 2005. Ever
since, we have remained strong in our commitment to serving patients with
excellence and compassion.
Learn More About Our Services
The services we offer our patients include:
Same-day mammograms — With this service, you don’t have to wait for your results.
We use Selenia™ digital mammography from Hologic™ so our patients
have access to the best possible mammography services available today.
Breast stereotactic technology — Breast stereotactic technology offers a less invasive alternative
to cyst drainage and is a method of calcification / nodule removal to
facilitate testing. This outpatient procedure requires a small incision
and minimal recovery time.
Prodigy bone densitometry system — The GE Lunar Prodigy bone densitometry equipment provides quick
bone density readings. Osteoporosis is a major women’s health concern.
This technology generates readings within minutes, identifying bone loss
at major fracture points and thus giving your doctor the information needed
to treat or prevent osteoporosis.
Breast density notification — As per Maryland state law, all mammography screening performed
at the Eunice Q. Sorin Women’s Diagnostic Center at Atlantic General
Hospital includes notice in the results regarding breast tissue density.
We offer same-day appointments at the Women’s Diagnostic Center:
