The Eunice Q. Sorin Women's Diagnostic Center, which opened at Atlantic General Hospital in October 2005, is dedicated solely to women’s health and diagnostic services. The result of a year-long study by a 12-person task force, it is a “one-stop shop” for mammography
and bone density exams as well as non-invasive alternatives for some breast surgeries.

Same-Day Mammograms and Bone Density Exams
Women of Worcester County and the surrounding area no longer have to wait for their diagnosis. Patients can be seen on the same day an exam is recommended by their physicians. Call 410-641-9714 for an appointment.

Computer-Aided Diagnosis (CAD) System
The R2 Image-Checker, an advanced computer-aided detection mammography system for early breast cancer detection, digitizes the x-rays taken of a patient’s breasts and compares the images to a database of thousands of breast studies. Our radiologists work with this system to pinpoint potential areas of concern.

Breast Stereotactic Technology
This technology offers a non-invasive approach to removing calcification and small nodules found in the breasts for testing. It is performed on an outpatient basis and requires only a small incision, resulting in very little discomfort and minimal recovery time. It also can be used in place of other minor surgical procedures such as cyst drainage.

Prodigy Bone Densitometry System
Osteoporosis is one of the most critical aspects of women's health. Our new
GE Lunar Prodigy bone densitometry equipment provides precise bone density readings in a matter of minutes. The system can identify bone loss at major fracture points such as the femur and the spine, which provides your physician with the information needed to treat your osteporosis or prevent the disease. If you are unable to make it to the the Women's Diagnostic Center in Berlin, the Pocomoke Imaging Center is now taking Wednesday appointments for bone density exams.
