Outpatient Surgery

Improved technology, surgical techniques and advanced in pain management have enabled Atlantic General Hospital to perform many surgeries on an outpatient basis, which means you will be in and out of the hospital within 24 hours.

Various general, gynecology and orthopedic surgeries can now be performed using laparoscopy, where a tubular endoscope is inserted through a much smaller incision than one in traditional surgical procedures. This requires less time in the hospital and a significantly shorter recovery time.

Some of the advanced procedures performed by our expert staff include:

  • Bariatric surgery (adjustable gastric banding)
  • ENT surgeries (ear, nose and throat)
  • Gynecology surgery
  • Ophthalmology surgery
  • Oral surgery
  • Orthopedic surgery
  • Pain management surgery
  • Plastic surgery
  • Podiatry surgery
  • Thoracic surgery
  • Vascular surgery
  • Canaloplasty

 Canaloplasty

Glaucoma, the second leading cause of blindness, is most commonly caused by increased pressure in the eye resulting from improper drainage of fluid from the eyeball. Those with the disease first experience a loss of peripheral vision and, if left untreated, eventual loss of all eyesight as pressure is placed on the optic nerve. Certain medications and surgical proceedures are available to control the pressure within the eyeball.

Canaloplasty is a new alternative to traditional glaucoma surgery with less risk and a quicker recovery time.

Dr. Yonker is currently offering canaloplasty to patients who are good candidates for the procedure.
