Important Medical Tips

Patient Satisfaction
Atlantic General Hospital and Health System has contracted with NRC Picker to survey the satisfaction of our patients and to collect responses to key questions that the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services require all U.S. hospitals to report. NRC Picker conducts market research studies for thousands of healthcare organizations worldwide including health systems, hospitals, managed care organizations, medical groups, federal and state agencies, employers and business coalitions.
The results shown here are calculated in percentile, which is a comparison to other hospitals in the U.S. with 100 beds or less.  Below are the overall ratings of patient satisfaction for Atlantic General Hospital’s outpatient surgery services and inpatient care compared to other hospitals of our size.
In addition to the percentile comparison to other hospitals of similar size, we track the average percentage of patients who given us a rating of “good,” “very good,” or “excellent” for patient satisfaction in Atlantic General Health System.

Key Quality Measures
Several organizations offer ratings for hospital performance and quality. Each employs its own set of criteria to measure various categories of care. The tables below represent quality measure data for heart attack, heart failure, pneumonia, and surgical care as reported on Hospital Compare (www.hospitalcompare.hhs.gov). This reputable web site is maintained by the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services and other members of the Hospital Quality Alliance to improve transparency in healthcare and offer healthcare consumers the opportunity to compare hospitals’ quality on an apples-to-apples basis for a wide variety of treatments.
