Atlantic General Hospital launched its overhauled web site on January 18, a fresh-faced version that offers more health information, articles and videos than before as well as a search feature and a more intuitive structure that makes navigation easier. The new site also came with a new set of real-time wait times -- this time for the hospital’s three Atlantic ImmediCare locations at the Rite Aids in Pocomoke, Ocean Pines and Millsboro.
The web site carried over the convenience of online bill payment and the ability to e-mail appointment requests from the old design, with the promise of more interactive features to come.
Very soon, web site users will be able to send e-cards to patients who have been admitted to the hospital and register for events that are posted on the site’s calendar.
During the next 12-18 months, Atlantic General’s information services team will be working closely with the web developer to create a patient portal where patients can review their health record in a secure environment as well as view lab results, schedule appointments, refill prescriptions and email questions to their doctor.
“We’re very excited,” said Toni Keiser, Vice President of Public Relations. “We’re trying to provide as many access points as possible to allow patients to be more involved in their own healthcare. This web site is an important part of that.”
