Atlantic General’s Wound Care Center receives exclusive Center of Distinction Award from Diversified Clinical Services

On Tuesday, November 17, the Wound Care Center at Atlantic General Hospital will be honored with the Center of Distinction Award from Diversified Clinical Services, the largest wound care management company in the world.

The award is given to select Wound Care Centers in recognition of meeting or exceeding company benchmarks in several measures including healing outcomes, patient satisfaction, and days to heal.

Atlantic General’s center has a 95 percent healing rate, year to date, far exceeding the national benchmark of 88 percent or higher. Additionally, their patients heal much faster than national benchmarking requirements – by nearly two weeks.

The center’s success in providing coordinated care and management of patients’ hard-to-heal wounds with virtually no cancellation of patient office visits has led to an overall patient satisfaction rate of 96 percent since January 1, 2009.

This year, only 12 centers of 300 nationwide have been recognized. Atlantic General’s Wound Care Center is the only one in the northeast region, which consists of 14 centers, to receive the award.

The public is invited to attend the awards reception, which will be held at 5 p.m. at the Wound Care Center.

“We’re truly honored and excited to receive this award,” said Geri Rosol, the program manager of Atlantic General’s Wound Care Center. “It is just another indication – in addition to our patient satisfaction rates – that our staff here is doing things right.”

Rosol also serves as a regional mentor in the area of community education to new Wound Care Center programs throughout the northeast.
