Guided imagery is used to focus the mind, provide deep relaxation, and shift thoughts away from the external environment. With guided imagery, one can relax into a state of reduced anxiety, relieving or managing stress and its many negative effects on the body and mood.
March is often a time of stress due to the cold weather, periods of diminished natural light and tax time. Atlantic General Hospital will offer a new four-part guided imagery class, titled Chasing Away the Winter Blues, which will be presented by Karen R. Shipman, LCSW-C.
