Atlantic General Held Snow Hill Open House Wednesday, October 26

Berlin, Md. – An open house to celebrate Atlantic General Health System’s new Snow Hill office and to welcome Dr. Andrea Mathias, MD, MPH, was held October 26, 2005. Mathias recently joined AGHS as a family physician when she opened her new Snow Hill practice in the renovated former offices of Dr. Robert LaMar at 104 Bay Street.

After graduating from Snow Hill High School, Mathias studied biology and physics and graduated magna cum laude from the College of Notre Dame of Maryland in Baltimore before earning her doctorate of medicine (M.D.) and her master of public health (M.P.H.) from Johns Hopkins.

“Coming home to Snow Hill is the right thing for us to do,” said Mathias, who is married with three sons. “The need for another family physician in Snow Hill grew greater with Dr. LaMar’s retirement last fall,” she said. “My family feels strongly that we were called back to Snow Hill not just to be the ‘town doctor,’ but for something bigger than that. There are so many changes occurring in Snow Hill and Worcester County. My husband and I want to play a positive role in the community as those changes evolve.”
