Atlantic General Health System Holds Open House in Ocean View, Delaware

Atlantic General Health System will celebrate the opening of its first primary care office in lower Sussex County on Tuesday, September 19, 2006 with an open house. Community members are invited to come in between 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. for refreshments and to meet Barbara Socha, M.D.

Dr. Socha, a physician with nearly two decades of experience in internal medicine, recently opened her practice at Ocean View Specialists at 88 Atlantic Avenue in Ocean View, Del. to serve the healthcare needs of lower Delaware residents.

In late May, Dr. Socha left her practice of sixteen years with Maryland Family Care in the Baltimore area as well as her positions as senior attending physician at Saint Agnes Hospital and attending staff physician at Mercy Hospital in Baltimore to join Atlantic General Health System.

Dr. Socha, who is a referral physician for Divers Alert Network, a non-profit medical and research organization dedicated to the safety and health of recreational divers, and is herself a diver, looks forward to living and working on the Eastern Shore.

She is board certified in Internal Medicine and has served as a preceptor to medical students at the University of Maryland School of Medicine’s Department of Family Medicine. She also has many years of experience in clinical trials and was an investigator in ALLHAT, the recently published hypertension trial sponsored by the National Institutes of Health.
