7:30 am - 5:00 pm, Monday - Friday
The Eunice Q. Sorin Women's Diagnostic Center, which opened at Atlantic General Hospital in October 2005, is dedicated solely to women’s health and diagnostic services. The result of a year-long study by a 12-person task force, it is a “one-stop shop” for mammography and bone density exams as well as non-invasive alternatives for some breast surgeries.
To schedule an appointment, please call the scheduling line at 410-641-9714. Schedulers are available Monday through Thursday, 8 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. and Friday, 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
Women of Worcester County and the surrounding area no longer have to wait for their diagnosis. Patients can be seen on the same day an exam is recommended by their physicians.

The center offers digital mammography, with Selenia™ digital mammography from Hologic,™ to afford area residents the best mammography services possible. Digital mammography allows for improved screening of denser breast tissues, where small calcifications that may be indicators of cancer are more difficult to detect. Unlike with conventional film mammography, the images can be lightened, darkened or otherwise manipulated to better isolate irregular tissues. This is especially important for women under 50 or those who are premenopausal, as they tend to have denser breasts.
In addition to the digital technology, Atlantic General offers the MammoPad® as a standard of care for all Women’s Diagnostic Center patients receiving a mammogram. An FDA-cleared disposable foam cushion, MammoPad creates a warmer, softer and more comfortable mammogram experience. Mammography technologists report that the MammoPad cushion makes it easier to help patients relax and position the breast, allowing them to acquire more tissue and even compression for the image.

Breast Stereotactic Technology
This technology offers a non-invasive approach to removing calcification and small nodules found in the breasts for testing. It is performed on an outpatient basis and requires only a small incision, resulting in very little discomfort and minimal recovery time. It also can be used in place of other minor surgical procedures such as cyst drainage.
Prodigy Bone Densitometry System
Osteoporosis is one of the most critical aspects of women's health. Our new GE Lunar Prodigy bone densitometry equipment provides precise bone density readings in a matter of minutes. The system can identify bone loss at major fracture points such as the femur and the spine, which provides your physician with the information needed to treat your osteoporosis or prevent the disease. The Women's Diagnostic Center offers same day appointments.

|Atlantic General Hospital, has been awarded a three-year term of accreditation in breast ultrasound and mammography as the result of a recent review by the American College of Radiology (ACR).
The ACR gold seal of accreditation represents the highest level of image quality and patient safety. It is awarded only to facilities meeting ACR Practice Guidelines and Technical Standards after a peer-review evaluation by board-certified physicians and medical physicists who are experts in the field. Image quality, personnel qualifications, adequacy of facility equipment, quality control procedures, and quality assurance programs are assessed. The findings are reported to the ACR Committee on Accreditation, which subsequently provides the practice with a comprehensive report they can use for continuous practice improvement.
