The open house, including a formal ribbon cutting ceremony at 5 p.m., is being held in coordination with the Berlin, Bethany-Fenwick, Ocean City, Ocean Pines, Pocomoke and Snow Hill Chambers of Commerce. The event is open to the public and community members and local officials are invited to take part in the ceremony.

About the Women’s Diagnostic Center

Atlantic General Hospital’s new 2,000 square foot facility provides diagnostic services that span the entire spectrum of women’s health in a setting that is designed for comfort and privacy. The center, which offers mammograms, ImageChecker computer-aided breast cancer detection (CAD), non-invasive Stereotactic breast biopsies, and bone density measurements, can accommodate same-day appointments.

“We’ve brought new equipment on board which allows us to see patients on the same day their doctor recommends an exam, “said Imaging Director Bob Abbott. “That’s a big advantage for Worcester County women, who no longer have to wait for their diagnosis.”

ImageChecker computer-aided detection (CAD) system This is the first CAD system approved by the U.S. Food & Drug Administration for use with screening as well as digital mammography. Its software analyzes diagnostic images, making it easier for AGH’s radiologists to note any suspicious features that may be indicative of cancer.

Stereotactic breast biopsy

This non-invasive procedure enables AGH radiologists to evaluate breast tissue samples using a method that causes very little discomfort and results in minimal recovery time for the patient.

GE Lunar Prodigy bone densitometry equipment

In minutes, this highly sensitive equipment measures bone density and can identify bone loss at major fracture points. The information collected provides valuable information to evaluate an individual’s risk of osteoporosis.

Advanced mammography services, stereotactic breast biopsy, and fast painless bone density testing are all administered by caring, professional medical staff at Atlantic General Hospital. For more information, call 410-641-9215, or to schedule an appointment, call 410-641-9714.
